STREET/PHOTOJOURNALISM
Trip to Taiwan
On a trip to Taiwan, I wanted to create a series of street photographs of the places I visited there. The above photographs draped in green hue are located in Ximenting, a popular night market place full of crowds and good food.
Below are some combined B&W and colour photographs of Jiufen and Shifen. I wanted to capture the everyday life of these normal workers on the street and deliver a more candid perspective.
Final photographs were taken in Taichung; some people were happy dealing with their daily goings while others were isolated having meals on their own. Taiwan just has a certain peacefulness yet cyberpunk-ish feel to it, that makes it prime for street photography and the like.

Night in PJ
On an overnight shoot for a short film, I snuck out into the depths of the night in Petaling Jaya. At 3am, it was as silent as the hills and empty as you could walk in the middle of the streets and lie on it, which I did. The traffic lights flicker and the only ambience noise to accompany you is the flickering of it along with buzzing of the insects. Late night escapades bring along an ambience of silence and peace I could never get in the morning with people around.

Kopitiam
Few shots in an SS15 kopitiam.

A&W - Umi 800
A shoot at the first A&W in Malaysia, situtated in Kelana Jaya. It is the place of my most nostalgic childhood memories. I wanted to do it justice by giving it a melancholic and ambient liminal mood. It is one of my most satisfied shoots to date.

PORTRAITS

Tennis Courts
While out exploring for a picturesque spot around Petaling Jaya with a nice tennis court for a good photo, we landed on a beautiful clean one and got right to work as the sun worked in our favour to make it have a sunny atmosphere. Capture with bloom filter and vintage film preset. What came out was a beautiful series of portraits meant to replicate the vintage look.

Oppenheimer
Replication of an oppenheimer-like photo set in the days of the 40s.

Tones
Film just looks better. Portraits took on analog film. Respectively Ilford HP5 and APX100. The contrast & tones in film just looks so much more vibrant and better conveyed in film.

Wong Kar Wai
Wong Kar Wai inspired photoshoot at the late night of Pasar Seni bus stations as we encapsulate the feelings of isolation and loneliness, as if you were the protagonist of a movie.

LANDSCAPE

Simplicity in KL
Coming out of a short trip at a local art museum, we are greeted with the sunset reflecting on the stone cold steel and glass of the Kuala Lumpur cityscape, along with the normalcy of pedestrians carrying our their daily routines.
